I’ve heard that pressure washing is bad for a roof. Is this true? You’re correct! A roof should not be pressure washed as it will void the warranty on your roof and damage the shingles. At Keystone Pressure Washing and Roof Cleaning we use a Non-Pressure Roof Cleaning soft wash method with no pressure applied. So,Instead of using high water pressure and force-heavy cleaning, we use safe pressures and specially blended cleaning solutions to remove all of the grime and dirt from your building exterior. It’s an effective cleaning method for exteriors of all materials, and we use it frequently on vinyl, wood, stone, brick, and stucco.
-
What types of roof surfaces do you clean? We clean: Asphalt shingles, slate, barrel tile, and EPDM Flat roofing surfaces.
-
Will your chemicals damage my home or plants? No, all of our chemicals are eco-friendly. We also take special care to pre-wet all plants and landscaping and rinse when we are completed.
-
I was told my roof needs replaced because of the black streaks on it. Is this true?No your roof does not need to be replaced. Most of these stains are called by algae (gleocapsamagma) which is airborne and can land on any roof surface. It feeds on the limestone fillers in the shingles and when it rains the algae is spread down the roof surface. This causes the streaking/staining. Not only can we clean the streaks and staining, but we can prevent it from coming back. Shingle manufacturers recommend that you clean your shingles on a regular basis. For more information read Don't Replace It, Clean It!, a technical bulletin published by the Roof Cleaning Institute of America and Algae Discoloration of Roofs, document was prepared by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association.
-
How long does the process take to clean my roof?Depending on the size of the roof, our crew is typically completed within the same day.
-
Do I need to be present for the service? No you do not. We ask that all doors and windows are closed, and for the outside water source to be on. We also ask that all outdoor furniture is moved away from the surface to be cleaned.
-
If I would like to be present for the cleaning, do you offer weekend appointments?"We offer weekend and evening appointments to accommodate your busy schedule.
